Online Ad Sales Firm Specific Media Gets $100 Million Funding From PE Firm
Specific Media, the online ad sales firm based in Irvine, CA, has raised some big money: $100 million from PE firm Francisco Partners. Earlier this year another online ad sales rep firm Gorilla Nation raised $50 million, also from PE money.

Specific will use the money for acquisitions and to expand into new types of ads, besides the display ads that it sells on sites such as Major League Baseball and others. It also places ads for major advertisers including Ford Motors, Unilever, Verizon (NYSE: VZ) and AT&T, (NYSE: T) it said.
Previously, the company had raised $10 million in in its first round of funding last year…the round was led by Enterprise Partners Venture Capital and included Shepherd Ventures. The company was founded in 1999 by Tim Vanderhook and his brothers, Chris and Russell Vanderhook.
