Online Sports Ad Network Sportgenic Gets $10 Million Second Round Funding

Sportgenic, the San Francisco-based online ad networked focused on sports sites, has received $10 million in its second round of funding. The round was led by Adams Street Partners, and previous investors Alsop Louie Partners, KPG Ventures, and Greycroft Partners also invested in the new round. The company, formerly called Active Athlete Media, will use the new funding to invest in its ad network technology and expand its sales force…it was founded in 2005, by Robert Tas, a former SVP of media and technology at 24/7 Real Media. The company says it has about 350 publisher sites in its network. To help grow its sales, it has also hired Kevin Granath as SVP of sales. Granath most recently served as VP of business development for IPG’s Ansible Mobile, and prior to that worked with ESPN as a senior director for its international ad sales.
