Presentation Sharing Site SlideShare Adds A Paid Option

SlideShare, the popular presentation sharing site backed by Mark Cuban, among other big names, has launched a paid version, providing it with an additional, non-advertising revenue stream. “PRO” users, who pay between $19 and $249 a month, get additional features, including analytics, and also have ads removed from their presentation pages; Dell, Microsoft (NSDQ: MSFT), Edelman, Cisco Systems (NSDQ: CSCO), and Pfizer have all signed up.

The move comes as the “freemium” model is becoming standard in the document sharing space. DocStoc added a paid subscription option earlier this year, and Scribd is reportedly polling its own users about much they would pay for a premium version of its service.
