Progressive Book Club, an online community and book e-tailer, has raised $1.6 million of a proposed $4 million round of funding, per an SEC filing. The company did not respond to a request for confirmation.
Founded in 2008 by Elizabeth Wagley, a former corporate communications exec for organizations like Human Rights Watch, the site offers readers news, commentary and forums about political issues from a progressive perspective; members can also buy books through the club at a discounted rate.
