Quepasa Relaunching As Social Networking Site With New Team, Funding
Bilingual portal Quepasa is attempting a relaunch with a new team and funding, reports AdAge. It has signed an agreement with cable channel SiTV creator Jeff Valdez to become chairman and provide consulting services including digital content and marketing and last week announced it is borrowing $7 million from previous backers and appointed former Match.com SVP Louis Bardov as its CTO. Within the next few weeks Quepasa, which once had as many as 1.2 million registered users, will make its debut as a social networking site, as it attempts to recover from net losses of $13.6 million and revenue of just $395,000 in 2006.
