RealNetworks Does a Reorg; New Operating Structure and Exec Promotions

imageRealNetworks, which is in the process of spinning out its games unit, has done a long-due reorg of its business structure and promoted three senior executives.

John Giamatteo has been promoted to COO, RealNetworks (NSDQ: RNWK). He was most recently the president of technology products & services and international operations. Previously, Giamatteo was president and CEO of Nortel Networks Asia Pacific.

Mike Lunsford has been appointed executive vice president, strategic ventures. He joined Real in January 2008 as a strategic advisor. In his new role at Real, Lunsford will be responsible for corporate strategy as well as Real’s interests in key partnerships and JVs. This includes Real’s music business which in the U.S. is managed as a JV with MTV Networks (NYSE: VIA) called Rhapsody America.

Harold Zeitz has been promoted to chief operating officer of the games division. Prior to this, he has been the executive with P&L responsibility for both the media software & services and games divisions of RealNetworks. In his new role, Zeitz will continue to run the games division and lead the transition of the games division into its spinoff and IPO.

Also, from an earlier SEC filing, On June 9, 2008, Daniel Sheeran resigned as SVP, Business Development and Corporate Partnerships…he remains employed as a strategic advisor to Rob Glaser, the CEO.
