Trusted Opinion, an online recommendation service, has received $1.5 million in its first round of funding, from undisclosed investors. The Palo Alto, CA based company, founded earlier this year, focuses on recommendations on movies, restaurants and nightclubs. There is plenty of competition in the space, including Yelp, Citysearch, etc. The company has this in response: “Unlike other sites that provide ratings based on the average opinion of everyone on a site, Trusted Opinion’s patent-pending recommendation algorithm places greater value on the opinions of friends, and friends of friends, up to three degrees.” The company has a very eclectic management team…the CEO and co-founder is former CEO of Comverse Russia.
