Could the latest chapter of The Hollywood Reporter saga be drawing to a close? A single-sourced report by TheWrap.com has Nielsen finally selling The Hollywood Reporter and trade sibs Billboard, Adweek, Brandweek and Mediaweek being sold to News Communications after more than a year on the block. Run by James Finkelstein, News Communications owns The Hill and Who’s Who. This would give them the “what’s what” in advertising, entertainment, music and more but the “when” is unclear as is the “how much”—if there’s a deal. The Wrap got a “no comment” by e-mail from Nielsen Business Media head Gerry Byrne.

A couple of years ago, Finkelstein toyed with the idea of selling The Hill to Allbritton Communications but the talks never panned out—and Allbritton instead bankrolled Politico, now a major competitor. More as we know it.
