Updated: Time Layoffs Slice Into Essence Magazine’s Web Team
Updated: paidContent has confirmed that Time Inc.‘s cuts have hit Essence magazine and Essence.com. The company confirmed that the web team was affected, but would not give a headcount for the layoffs; our sources say that the number was lower than Gawker and Journalisticks.com initially reported. The cuts come after a social media-centric relaunch of Essence.com last week. Emil Wilbekin, the site’s managing director, remains on staff.
