Web analytics company Compete.com has raised $10 million in a third round of funding, giving the company a total of $43 million in financing since 2000, Alarm Clock reported. The current funding was provided by Charles River Ventures, Idealab, Split Rock Partners and William Blair Capital Partners, all of whom have participated in past rounds.

The site was started in 2000 by serial entrepreneur Bill Gross, who had previously helped create the search engine that became Overture. The Boston-based company has been positioning itself as a tool for those who want more information along with their web searches. It started providing free data late last year.
