SEC Watch: Diller Still Tweaking IAC

IAC (NSDQ: IACI)—the gift that keeps on giving. Barry Diller’s latest fine-tuning involves renaming a couple of reporting segments and re-slotting online invite business Evite, according to an SEC filing. The Media & Advertising section, which includes Ask.com and Citysearch, is now known as “Search” while Emerging Businesses has been swapped for “Media & Other.” “Media” includes Tina Brown’s The Daily Beast, Ben Silverman’s Electus, College Humor, Notional and FiLife.  The company says the changes are meant to reflect the segments’ assets. Emerging Business, for instance, actually was a mix of fresh start-ups and more established companies—and is heavily weighted to media. The move also highlights IAC’s search businesses.

At the same time, Evite was moved from Media & Advertising and is now part of the “other” in the newly christened M&O segment. That shift offers a glimpse into Evite’s finances. Using a little back of the envelope figuring, it looks like Evite—which went through a re-org and layoffs over the summer—had revenues of about $5.7 million through Sept. 30.
