Skype’s Top Engineering Executive Leaves After A Month On Job

Skype’s top engineering executive has left the company for “personal reasons,” the NYT says. Skype had hired Madhu Yarlagadda away from Yahoo (NSDQ: YHOO) in early July to oversee the company’s engineering and development initiatives as chief development officer, succeeding CTO Dan Berg.

At Yahoo, Yarlagadda had been VP of integrated consumer experiences, leading engineering for various Yahoo sites, including the home page; he was also credited with helping to build up Yahoo Messenger.

But the NYT cites a source who says that Skype got second thoughts about Yarlagadda after reading a barrage of negative comments about him in a TechCrunch piece about his hiring—surprising, if true, considering the comments from readers are all anonymous and short on specifics.

Yarlagadda’s departures comes a week after Skype filed for an IPO. We’re awaiting comment from Skype and will update when we hear back.
