Online scrapbook and e-card maker Smilebox has raised $2 million in order fund a European expansion. The startup—which lets users upload their media in order to create customized print or digital photo albums, scrapbooks, and cards—says it will offer a “fully localized version” of its service for top European markets beginning in the second quarter of this year.

The company says the new cash is a “follow-on funding” to the $7 million second round it raised in December 2007 from Bessemer Ventures and Frazier Technology Ventures. With the new backing, Smilebox will have now raised $14 million.

In September, it purchased VC-backed Preclick, a company that makes software for big retailers so that customers can upload digital photos to their websites and then pick up prints at stores. At the time, Smilebox said it planned to add some “1-hour, direct to store printing of Smilebox designs.”
