Rupert Murdoch’s WSJ remains locked in a deal with CNBC (NYSE: GE) which prevents its reporters from going exclusive to News Corp (NSDQ: NWS). cousin Fox Business News. But evidently they’ve found a loophole for star tech columnist Walt Mossberg. In an announcement, FBN says Mossberg, who writes for WSJ and its subsidiary AllThingsD, will debut on the still small channel tomorrow morning at 11:30 AM. From then on, he’ll be appearing on Thursdays. That Journal reporters will eventually migrate over to FBN is in the when, not if category. But it’s a coup to have Mossberg, who’s got quite a bit of star power for a tech reporter, to make the switch early. What we don’t know is what about The Journal’s relationship with Mossberg allowed them to move him over.

Update: When asked for comment on the move, Mossberg responded: “My only comment is that I made the move of my own volition, for my own reasons. I can’t speak for the rest of the Journal, but I would note that some other Journal reporters are already doing FBN.”
