Social Media Ad Rep Firm Appsavvy Gets $3.1 Million Funding

Appsavvy, an NYC-based startup focused on selling ads across social media apps, has received $3.1 million in first round funding, led by True Ventures, and additional investment from About.com Founder Scott Kurnit. The company, founded last year, sells direct ads on social media applications, working with with brands and agencies. Apps companies working with the company include Flixster, FrozenBear, MesmoTV, Playfish and SGN, among others. The company also just announced a deal with NBCU, where it will be the exclusive sales provider of NBC News iCue social media app launching to Facebook this month…the app is built around hundreds of historical videos from the NBC News Archives.
