Social media studio SpectrumDNA has acquired Revyver, a Seattle-based digital design firm. Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but Revyver will operate as the studio’s subsidiary. SpectrumDNA was founded in 2006 by former Warner Bros. exec Jim Banister, and develops white-label and branded “enginets” (or custom websites, applications and widgets) like Addictionary. Media companies and brands like NBC and Comedy Central have tapped the studio for its enginets, which run on both the desktop and mobile Web. The acquisition adds the design talents of Revyver CEO Bryan Veloso (a former Facebook alum) to SpectrumDNA’s roster, and Banister said the company is in talks with a handful of other indie Web design studios for future acquisitions. Based in Park City, Utah, SpectrumDNA was funded by private investors in 2007, and had its IPO in August 2008. Release.
