Social Shopping Site Stylefeeder Raises $1 Million

Boston-based social shopping site Stylefeeder has raised $1 million from Highland Capital Partners and Schooner Capital, reports VentureBeat.  The company’s site also indicates that RSS Investors, the RSS-focused VC fund, is an investor (suggesting, perhaps, that their focus isn’t quite as narrow as initially planned). StyleFeeder works like other algorithm-based discovery services, recommending items based on past history and the preferences of users with similar tastes.  LA-based ThisNext is a key competitor, as is Kaboodle, purchase by Hearst in August.

StyleFeeder, which was originally founded in 2005, was acq-hired by TopTenSources in 2006, before being spun out earlier this year, according to a recent GigaOM post.
