Stealth Social Net Masala Gets $4.5 Million First Round Funding

Masala, a still-in-stealth San Francisco-based social networking startup, has raised $4.5 million in its first round of funding. The round was led by VantagePoint Venture Partners, according to a regulatory filing, picked up by PEHub. The company is run by onetime Sevin Rosen Funds partner Amra Tareen.

  • Masala is a cute name for a social networking site if you are indian (or like me understand the indian culture) but NO One else is going to understand what Masala means or how it ties to the name.

    Judging by the name (Masala) and the partner the name of Amra Tareen, I presume this is a social networking site aimed towards Desis/Indians.
