Original post: July 29th, ‘08: Six Degrees Games, a stealthy online gamer, has raised a $7 million first round, according to the PwC MoneyTree Report, socalTech reported. The investors were not named, though socalTech said that the company is listed as a portfolio company of PrismVentureworks, so that’s at least one of them. Six Degrees Games is apparently working on some kind of tween-oriented, casual-gaming, virtual world type thing. The company itself says it’s building a mass market gaming applications for the internet.

Updated on Aug 5th: The company has formally announced its new round: the round was led by Clearstone Venture Partners and Prism VentureWorks. These funds will support the product development, launch and distribution of Action AllStars, an original sports-themed virtual world aimed primarily at six to 14-year-olds. The project is currently in closed beta. The company’s CEO Minard Hamilton was the former EVP of distribution and marketing at Jamdat Mobile (now part of EA). The other co-founder and President Ben Jones was also at Jamdat, as SVP of Sales.
