Strutta Raises $1.2 For Online Competitions

Strutta, a video site where users can show off their accomplishments, has raised a $1.2 million from GrowthWorks, Telefilm Canada, and other angels, according to NTV. The site, which will launch on Thursday, promises users rewards of some sort for posting feats of human ability, like doing an impressive bike trick, or something else. A number of other sites have gone after the social media or video space via the competition angle. DanceJam features online video tournaments of people squaring off in dance. UK-based Bragster is a prop bets site where users can engage in dares, like eating a spoonful of wasabi.CEO Danny Robinson previously founded DVD trading company Peerflix.
