The Band’s Back At Yahoo: Hadley Leaves Heavy; Joins Dosset, Bradford
The three former MSNites are back together, at the company MSFT tried hard to buy: Yahoo (NSDQ: YHOO). Yesterday came the news that Jeff Dossett is joining Yahoo as SVP-U.S. Audience, and now Eric Hadley, formerly GM of the MSN Network and till recently the CMO at online video company Heavy, has now joined Yahoo as the VP of U.S. Field Marketing, a newly created role responsible for marketing communications strategy and execution for advertisers, publishers, industry groups and other partners. He started there yesterday. This reunites the three main former MSN executives: Dossett, Hadley and Joanne Bradford, who joined Yahoo in September as SVP-U.S. revenue and market development. Bradford and Dossett report to Hilary Schneider, while Hadley reports to Nick Besbeas, SVP of Marketing & Customer Care, Yahoo! U.S.
Hadley joined Heavy about a year ago, and this continues the slow bleeding of senior executives from the online video company. It also announced some layoffs last month.
Update: The internal memo from Yahoo, sent by Besbeas, on Hadley joining and some other reporting structure changes:
“Team,
Today I am happy to announce that Eric Hadley is joining Yahoo! as Vice President of U.S. Field Marketing, a newly created role which will be responsible for driving our marketing communications strategy and execution for advertisers, publishers, industry groups and other partners. The current advertiser and partner marketing teams, which had been led by Kristen Fergason on an interim basis, will report to Eric moving forward. Eric and the team will partner closely with the Advertising Marketplaces Group under Mike Walrath, the U.S. Partnerships organization under Jim Schinella, the U.S. Revenue and Market Development team under Joanne Bradford and the Corporate Communications team under Adam Grossberg. Full memo after the jump…
Eric’s first day at Yahoo! is today, and he will report to me. Eric is joining us from Heavy.com, where he was Chief Marketing Officer, managing all Sales, Marketing and Ad Operations. Prior to Heavy, Eric was General Manager of Microsoft’s MSN Marketing division. During his tenure at Microsoft (NSDQ: MSFT), Eric held various marketing leadership roles including the role of GM, Global Advertising Solutions and Marketing Support.
Eric is very excited to be joining the Yahoo team. In his words: “I’ve always admired the Yahoo! brand, the spirit of innovation and results Yahoo! provides for advertisers. I am very excited to be joining this great team and look forward to helping take the company to the next level.”
Finally, I would like to call out Kristen’s contribution as interim lead of the U.S. Field Marketing team. I have worked with her a short time, but I have been incredibly impressed by her diverse marketing skills and the energy and commitment she has shown to Yahoo!. I am indebted to her for skillfully managing the team for the last six months. It is a great example of someone stepping up and putting Yahoo! first.
Pease join me in welcoming Eric to the team, and in thanking Kristen for her leadership.
Thanks—
NB”
