No, not a joke or a wordplay, but wedding lifestyle network The Knot has bought The Bump, a magazine and website focused on pregnancy issues. Terms were not disclosed. The move follows one of the initial goals set by Janet Scardino when she joined The Knot as president and CMO back in October, when she said she wanted to expand the network’s focus beyond being a portal for marriage-related online content.

Aside from its website, The Bump, which has been around for roughly four years, publishes local digests aimed at new parents. Billed as “guides to the local maternity and baby scene,” the magazines are available in 11 markets including Los Angeles and New York. They feature lists of OB/GYNs and high-end retail outlets in related areas. The Bump, which has its main offices in Phoenix, will be tied with The Knot’s existing newborn-focused offering, The NestBaby.com. Release
