trueAnthem Gets $2 Million Angel Round For Music Widgets
trueAnthem, a developer of widgets for musicians, has raised a $2 million angel round from unidentified investors. The SF-based company offers widgets that bands can use to distribute their music in a sponsored manner, thus earning them revenue. With the funding announcement, the company announced that Adidas had become the latest advertiser, sponsoring a widget from the band Ultraviolet Sound. Among the bands on the trueAnthem roster is 90s frat favorite Hootie & The Blowfish, which recently used the company to broadcast a live show. Recently funded Topspin Media is a competitor, as are other music widgeteers, like heavily backed Nabbr. Release.
