Updated: U.S. Open To Stream Almost All Matches Online; ESPN360 Will Too, CBS Won’t

Updated below: The USTA is also taking the plunge on full streaming of major championships. This year, it will stream almost all of the matches from U.S. Open, on USOpen.org, it announced today. The details:
—150 matches comprising more than 300 hours of live tennis
—sponsored by Westin Hotels and Stonyfield Farm, and tech developed by its usual parter IBM
—all the games in the ESPN2 and Tennis Channel window will be streamed, which means when the tournament reaches higher round and moves to CBS, it won’t.
—All five TV courts with announcer commentary will be available to users in HD.
—This is a big jump from last year, where it only streamed the Men’s Final, and had about 300K domestic viewers, it said back then.
—This comes after ESPN (NYSE: DIS) and Tennis Channel snagged the U.S. Open rights starting this year.
—Likely ESPN360 and CBSSports.com will also be showing most of these streamed matches.
—Compare this to the horrendous NBC policy on Wimbledon, but to be tiny-bit fair, it was on a completely different timezone. Actually, scratch that, NBC Sports sucks, we all know that.

Updated: ESPN 360 will be streaming all games, as expected, I have confirmed. So will Tennis Channel on its website, but is a more limited streaming deal. As for CBS (NYSE: CBS) Sports, it won’t stream any matches this year, which is a bit strange, but USTA is speaking to them for 2010.
