UK’s Perform Group will be the exclusive online distributor for Major League Soccer in the U.S. and overseas. The company, which has the lucrative license to distributes English Premier League soccer highlights in the UK via a free-to-view, embeddable e-player, recently set up a New York office and is already talking to potential partners to host a U.S.-only version, featuring short clips of MLS action. Perform’s e-player is embedded on every major national newspaper website in the UK, and talks are underway with U.S. publishers on ad-supported, revenue-sharing deals. In addition, Perform will show live MLS games on a pay-per-view and subscription basis outside the U.S. via its Omnisport site.
