We have an update here: IMF Fan Protests Going Nowhere When It Comes To Ovation

Universal Music Group has sold off its music channel International Music Feed, to Santa Monica, CA-based Ovation TV, for an undisclosed sum. IMF is a 24-hour cable/satellite channel focusing on a mix of international and U.S. music. OvationTV, an arts entertainment channel, was founded in 2005. Even though it was owned by UMG, it played artists from across other labels as well, and had gained critical acclaim.

OvationTV was originally launched in 1997, and re-launched in June 2007 with a focus on arts and creativity programming. In August 2006 the network was acquired by Hubbard Media Group and a group of other private investors which includes Arcadia Investment Partners, Corporate Partners II, Perry Capital, and The Weinstein Company. The new deal makes sure Ovation gains a berth on Dish Network and elevates Ovation’s U.S. distribution to 25 million homes.

As part of the agreement, UMG will get an equity position in Ovation TV. More details in release.
