Vertical Search Firm Kosmix Raises $10 Million Third Round
Kosmix, a vertical search company that has primarily focused on health, has raised a $10 million third round led by DAG Ventures, with participation from previous backers LightSpeed and Accel. The Mountain View, CA-based company had previously raised $25 million from those firms as well as individual investors Jeff Bezos and Bill Miller of Legg Mason. The company’s biggest site is RightHealth, which it claims is the sixth-most visited health destination with 3.9 monthly unique visitors. (This space is more crowded every day. Yesterday, iMedix announced funding for a combination of vertical health search and social networking.) Kosmix has also launched RightAutos and RightTrips (for travel). With the funding, it plans to invest in hiring, technology and distribution. Release.
