Video Ad Network YuMe Launches With $7 Million In Funding

This week’s launch of YuMe, an online ad network dedicated to broadband video, coincides with the company having raised $7 million in first round funding. Khosla Ventures, Accel Partners, and BV Capital provided the financing, Alarm Clock reported. One hurdle for video advertising is concern about ads appearing alongside content that may be offensive to some people. Redwood City-based YuMe Networks claims to have developed scanning and filtering technology that tries to ameliorate that situation. At this point it appears that YuMe, whose founder and CEO is Jayant Kadambi, formerly VP at Netopia, is creating its own network, rather than selling its technology to other video ad networks as way to better manage the relationship between content and advertising.
