Rinera Networks has closed first-round funding of $9 million from existing investors NEA and Foundation Capital. Rinera plans to use the funds to further develop its online video distribution technology and to address issues such as scaling and traffic management. Rinera was founded by Dr. Hui Zhang, president, and Dr. Ion Stoica, CTO, who are professors at Carnegie Mellon University and U.C. Berkeley, respectively. Release
