Pardon this interruption from our usual topics but we are first and foremost a news organization and we cannot let the passing today of Walter Cronkite slip by. Cronkite stood for excellence in journalism in a time when the TV news world was ruled by three networks—and he continues to do so in an increasingly fragmented news universe. It’s somehow fitting that Cronkite, who had been in declining health, died as we are observing the 40th anniversary of Apollo 11’s journey to the moon, and on July 20, of man walking on the moon. Look below for a video of his historic coverage of that event for CBS (NYSE: CBS) News.
