Widget Community Widgetbox Raises $8 Million Second Round

SF-based Widgetbox, which offers a community for widget developers, has raised an $8 million second round from Sequoia Capital, Hummer Winblad Venture Partners, NCD Investors, and private investor, Michael Dearing, who is serving as the company’s interim CEO. The company did an unspecified first round last year. Widgetbox claims a community of 26,000 widget developers using its site and development tools. It plans to use the funding to expand its DevShare program, which helps developers collect revenue. Prior to this position, Dearing was an SVP at eBay (NSDQ: EBAY). Release.
