Wine Information and Aggregation Site Scrugee Bought Out

A small acquisition in the online vertical info space: Cruvee for Wineries, a wine industry market-intelligence and social-media monitoring firm, has bought Scrugy.com, an online wine info aggregator, search engine and discussion platform. The amount was not disclosed, though in low six figures, according to Cruvee CEO.

Scrugy, founded in 2006, aggregates tasting notes, reviews, wineries and influential wine blogs. Cruvee, in fact, is younger; started last year by Evan Cover initially as a social networking site, it has since evolved into a B2B operation. Expect some of the trends apparent in this to continue: social -media monitoring and research sites buying smaller blogs covering specific areas, as a way to add content, tech and talent. More info in the release.
