As Slate’s DoubleX prepares to wind down after a nine-month stint as a standalone, Peggy White is leaving the company as publisher of the women’s news and analysis site, she tells paidContent. She’ll be on hand for a short period to help out with the transition of DoubleX back to Slate, where it was spun off from the XXFactor blog feature. After that, White, a veteran digital media exec who was previously VP/GM of Yahoo (NSDQ: YHOO) Finance, says she’s considering her options. “My strength and passion lie with building great products and audiences,” White said. “There is a great deal of activity in the market and I’m looking forward to what’s next.”

Aside from White, DoubleX had five main editors and over two dozen contributors. Two of DoubleX’s three founding editors, Hanna Rosin and Emily Bazelon, will return to manage the project. It’s not clear whether other staffers will find positions back at Slate or be laid off. Update: A DoubleX rep told paidContent that there are no layoffs connected with the site’s demise.
