LA-based SheKnows.com, a network of sites targeted towards women, has acquired Soaps.com, a soap opera site that claims 600,000 unique users per month. The acquisition helps SheKnows expand its content base, which includes such areas as health, food, parenting and entertainment. The network includes a number of sub-sites like ichef.com and Childfun.com. As stated in the release, SheKnows is eager to draw a distinction between itself and other competitors, such as the Glam network: “Unlike some online distributed networks that have cropped up in the marketplace within the last year or two and merely aggregate disparate unrelated websites, SheKnows is a legitimate branded destination which owns most and manages all its sub-properties.” Soaps.com was launched last year by First Beat Media, an entertainment media/domain holding firm. SheKnows is part of broader entertainment media company Atomic Online. Terms of the deal were undisclosed. Release.
