Yahoo’s Ad Campaign All About ‘You’—And Your Social Net Connections
Yahoo’s estimated $100 million campaign is all about putting it’s “Y” in “You.” Over the past few days, some details have begun to leak out about the campaign, which will be officially unveiled on Tuesday during Advertising Week. The new tagline is “It’s You!”—ads feature the Yahoo (NSDQ: YHOO) graphical “Y” and exclamation point in them—as created by WPP Group’s Ogilvy & Mather. The campaign will seek to tie together some new features Yahoo has been adding lately meant to update its image, as more and more users get their content from social nets than portals.
As Yahoo’s brand image has suffered the past few years, unidentified sources tell the WSJ that the campaign will stress its connections to social media. On Tuesday, Yahoo will provide an outline of some of the new tools it has, such as ones that will let users tailor Yahoo.com to sites like Facebook. The details follow last week’s word, AllThingsD’s Kara Swisher said it would be centered on presenting Yahoo as the “home on the web” for both advertisers and consumers.
