ZeniMax Media has purchased id Software, the studio behind games like Doom, Quake, and Wolfenstein, creating a company with a portfolio of top first-person shooter and role playing games. ZeniMax is a publisher and also owns the studio behind games like Fallout. It also runs ZeniMax Online Studios, which develops multi-player online games. id Software co-founder John Carmack tells Kotaku that his company—which depended on other firms to market its titles—was “getting kind of tired competing with our own publishers in terms of how our titles will be featured ...
