Zorap, a two-year-old online video chat startup, has raised $1.35 million in a round of funding from private investors, according to an SEC filing. With Zorap, users set up customized “rooms” where they can video chat with up to 50 friends at the same time. Users can drag and drop media—like YouTube videos, photos, or MP3 files—into their browser window to share them. Seems like a neat concept, although judging by various online metrics (Compete, Quantcast etc.) it doesn’t seem to have caught on quite yet. Founder Barry Spencer tells us the new funds come from two private investors—one based in California, the other in the Seattle area.
