Don’t buy the hype, but Bell Canada and Microsoft have announced the creation of a new “super portal” and a subscription service to it. Essentially a website enhanced with extra services and new content, the portal, called Sympatico.MSN.ca, is open to anyone on the Net. The subscriptionn service, called Sympatico with MSN Premium, will be offered to existing subscribers of Bell’s Sympatico Internet service for $4.95 per month on top of its regular service.

Not yet included in the bundle is IPTV…Bell said that trials of IPTV are currently under way.

The success of the Sympatico with MSN Premium service (or otherwise) will provide a blueprint for the software giant’s future plans in the United States.
