Kinda hard to visualize unless I see a demo, but seems novel enough to mention: NDS, the conditional access company and a subsidiary of News Corporation, has launched a interactive IPTV solution called XSpace, which allows online access to audio and video content through their TV (through the IPTV service).

As the company describes, “Xspace allows operators to offer consumers access to premium broadcast and web content through hyperlinks from within regular TV programming, using an onscreen link.” This is done through hyperlinks from within regular TV programming and an onscreen triggers. Also, online content is delivered via RSS feeds directly to hybrid set-top boxes. The service also supports play-lists, integrated web advertising and pay-to-view premium content.

WebTV, anyone?
