The details are pretty much as expected, and what we’ve described in two posts since last night: the service is imaginatively called Cingular Music, and has tie-ups with Yahoo, Napster and EMusic for portable subscription downloads and transfers onto Cingular phones; also a tie-up with XM Satellite Radio, to stream 25 radio stations (for $8.99 a month)...the full service will launch November 6.
Details:
—The XM Radio Mobile application was developed and will be hosted by MobiTV.
—It is using Windows Media DRM.
—Cingular and Napster are currently offering a free 60-day trial. Additionally, mobile customers can access Napster Mobile and browse the entire Napster catalog, listen to 30-second samples, rate songs, and recommend music picks with friends (this is the Ericsson deal that Napster has for Napster Mobile).
—On eMusic: Consumers who buy a Sony Ericsson W810i or Sony Ericsson W300i will get 50 free songs which they can side-load to the phone.
—Also offering music videos, including video content from MTV Networks’ MTV, VH1 and CMT music brands; Warner Music (Music Choice); as well as original video footage from Cingular Sounds Live (CSL) concert series.
—Five handsets that support this: the Cingular SYNC by Samsung, LG CU500, Sony Ericsson W810i, Sony Ericsson W300i and Cingular 3125.
