Cisco has been on a PR offensive about its digital video plans, including the recent appointment of a top exec in charge of video division (Dan Scheinman), as well as CEO John Chambers’ keynote at CES yesterday. At CES, Chambers hinted that the company will acquire more consumer-focused companies as part of a broad push into digital home. “We’ve already made three acquisitions” of consumer-focused companies, Chambers said, including that of Linksys and Scientific Atlanta. “You’ll see four, five and six coming soon,” Chambers said.
News.com: Chambers tried to ease concerns of traditional consumer electronics vendors and content providers that Cisco would be a threat to their businesses. He called Cisco “Switzerland” and said the company will remain technology-agnostic and will use industry standards to build its new products.
