DisneyChannel.com Serves 11.4 Million Streams During Debut Weekend

The first stats are in from DisneyChannel.com—more than 11.4 million streams served from midday June 2 through June 4; 3.7 million uniques and 78.7 million page views. (The numbers for Disney’s Jetix.tv, which also launched its broadband player last week, aren’t in.)
One measure for those concerned about cannibalism: The episode of “The Suite Life of Zack & Cody” that premiered online as part of a series marathon was streamed more than 1.2 million times Friday—and was the top basic cable show of the day for kids and tweens drawing 4.3 million viewers. It also won the time period in several categories. Can’t really draw any major conclusions from one example but it’s intriguing.
By comparison, last week Disney CEO Bob Iger said the company’s ad-supported media player at ABC.com delivered 11 million streams during its first four weeks. Some possible reasons for the difference:
—in general, kids are serial repeaters, often watching the same item multiple times whether it’s PC, DVR or DVD.
— DisneyChannel.com is offering more programming.
— Disney Channel’s intense promotion of the online broadband player’s debut.
