SpiralFrog has signed a deal with EMI Publishing to add its full music catalogue to the free downloads service. The ad-supported service was announced last week with a similar Universal Music deal and will launch in December. EMI Music’s Co-CEO Roger Faxon said the service will help to recapture consumer demand which has been hijacked by online piracy. “Anytime we can create a new revenue stream for our songwriters and combat online piracy, you will see EMI Music Publishing leading the charge.”
EMI’s catalogue includes The Arctic Monkeys, winner of last night’s Mercury Music Prize. The money’s on Warner to be next.
