Facebook Valuation: Not $2 Billion

The MediaWeek story which we linked to and was picked up by other blogs as well, caused some confusion about Facebook’s valuation, enough that the company came out and clarified some parts of the deal: Interpublic has agreed to spend a minimum of $10 million of advertising on Facebook and that it has also made a .5 percent investment in the company. However, those deals were separate, and the company’s value can’t be derived from the news, she told us: “..the transactions are separate - not in exchange for.”
The company valuation remains in the $550-600 million range.
