As we mentioned yesterday, NYC-based broadband video firm Heavy.com has announced its $10 million funding, led by Polaris Venture Partners. In addition, Heavy announced two new board appointments: Mike Hirshland, General Partner of Polaris, and Avram Miller, former VP of Intel and current CEO of the Avram Miller Company.
The funding will be used to roll-out more original programming for online and mobile. In addition, in coming months, Heavy will launch MyHeavy.com, a broadband community, and Teriyaki Strips, a new network that’s targeted to teen males spawned from Heavy’s popular Teriyaki Strips channel.
Mike explains the rationale of his firm’s investment, here on his blog.
