Maybe the third time will be the charm—BW wrote in July that Yahoo was in talks with Hearst and MediaNews Group about a partnership that would include Yahoo HotJobs. (That was several months before Google announced newspaper ad test.) It resurfaced late last month when Peter Krasilovsky wrote that a deal matching HotJobs with 6-12 non-CareerBuilder publishers was close to being finalized. Now the Journal is reporting that a deal with six publishers could be announced Monday. The group includes MediaNews and Hearst, as expected, Belo Corp., E.W. Scripps Co., Lee Enterprises Inc. and Cox Enterprises Inc. Some details:
—It’s a “proposed” five-year agreement that can be renewed if performance metrics are met.
—Newspapers would be to sell HotJobs standalone or as part of a bundle, as well as employer access to the resume database.
—Other aspects could include technology and news partnerships.
HotJobs can use all the help it gets. Current market share, according to Morgan Stanley: CareerBuilder, 32 percent; Monster, 31 percent; HotJobs, 9 percent.
