Industry Moves: NBC’s Michael Steib Leaves For Google For Video Advertising

Updated: Google’s PR responded finally, and Steib will join the Google team “to help us work with advertisers to create effective, measurable video advertising. As we continue to grow our video ads business, Michael’s experience in Internet and media will help us succeed.”
Another in the line of NBC senior departures: Michael Steib, the GM of Strategic Ventures for NBC Universal (responsible for NBBC, which he founded, and NBC Weather Plus) has left the company and is joining Google, paidContent.org has learned.
NBC launched NBBC as a broadband distribution and syndication firm a few months ago, and Steib was one of the founders and facilitated its September 2006 launch with GM Brian Buchwald, who is staying. Not sure exactly what Steib will be doing at Google, but we understand it is a new position and he could be heading a new group. (Perhaps it will be similar to NBBC.) Google PR has yet to respond to our request.

Probably not…as I mention in the post above, this would be a new division, from what we understand. Unless it is a new division under YouTube.

Would this be a new division like Google PPC video?  Maybe they need someone fresh to come in and get it going more than it already is.
