Several record labels are suing the operator of Moscow-based allofmp3.com, claiming that Mediaservices is selling millions of music downloads illegally. Mediaservices claims it deals with licensing by paying royalties to a Russian-based licensing group. The labels involved in the suit include Arista Records LLC, Warner Bros. Records, Capitol Records, and UMG Recordings Inc. They’re asking for a court order against Mediaservices and unspecified damages.
AP: “Defendant’s entire business ... amounts to nothing more than a massive infringement of plaintiffs’ exclusive rights under the Copyright Act and New York law,’’ according to the lawsuit.
