Online Press Release Firm PRWeb Bought For $28 Million

The press release business online is surely going through a consolidation: now Ferndale, WA-based PRWeb has been bought by PR/communications software firm Vocus, for about $28 million. The deal includes $20.8 million in cash and 494,543 shares of Vocus common stock (Vocus is a public company traded on Nasdaq). Vocus was founded in 1988 and is headquartered in Lanham, Maryland.
PRWeb has been using SEO, RSS feeds, podcasts, tagging and other techniques to push releases for its clients.
