Online Video Aggregator JumpTV To Buy Hispanic Sports Site SportsYa

Toronto-based online TV channel aggregator/distributor JumpTV is buying out Hispanic sports website SportsYa. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. JumpTV aggregates a lot of international channels and sells them to ethic/immigrant audiences worldwide, and the sports site will be used to drive potential subscribers to its Latin American TV properties, and vice versa.
SportsYa, founded in 1998, targets the Hispanic market residing in the U.S. and Latin America, and generated about 200,000 unique visitors and 5 million page views in November, the companies said.Besides sports news and info, SportsYa.com offers original programming such as “Futbol de Primera,” as well as access to the popular Mexican sports radio station “Estadio W.”
